the lil thumper is an amazing little bait very versatile works all year round but my favorite way to fish it is to fish it on a 7' 6" flippin stick with a 1/2 ounce tungsten weight pegged right at the hook so the weight wont move and ill juss flip it under piers the best thing about the bait is it will skip way back under the piers to the poles that hardly ever get fished and juss work it out from under them reall slow like and wait for that bump bump and lay into em  this has landed me a ton of fish!! a very good bait to throw way back under the piers or into the thick brush piles

Good advice on the dock skipping technique. I wanted to add a couple ways I like to fish the LiL Thumper as well.

I like to peg a 1.5ozer to the LiL thumper and punch it through the hydrilla, then raise the rod tip until your weight hits the bottom of the mat and then just let it sit, those big grass donkeys can't stand the lil thumper shimmying underneath that mat. I know this is a common technique for a creature bait, but the others won't shimmy like the Thumper!!!

And this is a GREAT way to catch bedders! Rig the Thumper backwards with a 1/8-1/4oz weight, I like to use the lightest the wind will allow, pitch it past the bed and slowly drag it onto the bed, the legs and flippers come into that bed all flared out and those big mammas get all torn up over it. If she's locked on, you will catch her quickly with this presentation.

I really like to put the thumper on the back of a www.ltbwarehouse.com  football jig it is a great setup for loading the boat .  I have had alot of lucky in southern Illinois and at kentucky lake with this combo.  This combo is setting in the defensive postion and fish can't leave it alone. My favorites are 1/2 oz Black and blue football jig with a blue sapphire lil thumper or  a Kentucky special jig with A Watermelon red little thumper.
