During practice for the National Championship of the Bassmaster Weekend Series on Lake Dardanelle, the water was in the bushes.  I found a series of pockets mid-way back in a creek with a lot of brush in the water.  I first threw a spinnerbait with no takers.  I then picked up my 1/4 ounce jig paired with the Swim-N-Crawl.  I focused on making pitches as close to the base of the bushes as I could.  My idea was to use the extremely buoyant Swim-N-Crawl to slow the fall and it paid off.  First one was about 3 lbs., while I put her back in the water another rolled.  I then bent my jig hook in and tried the next pocket to see if I had a pattern.  Sure enough I shook off two more nice ones.  I spent the rest of the day looking for similar situations for tourney day.  Late that night I heard that the lake was going to drop.  Its tournament day and after my 25 mile run all my bushes were on land, it turned out to be a tough tournament for me.  Moral of the story; Swim-N-Crawl as a jig trailer is a great way 2 go.

hey jon thats awesome when you have days like that.I was going to mention another technique for people to try to have the bait fall slower take a swim n crawl or a lil thumper they both work awesome the way the fall in the water  and put a punch skirt on and a 1/4 or 1/8 bullet weight on it the same as a texas rig that looks like a jig and the skirt lifts from the bait it falls slower and falls diffrent its an awesome way to try if anyone wants to try something  a little diffrent.
